Get the skills for jobs in social care by joining our social
care academy.
The academy gives you the knowledge to help get you a job in
social care. This includes the key skills to prepare for the SVQ
which you'll commence when you start work.
Why social care?
Social care offers highly-rewarding opportunities to people at any
stage of life. If you're interested in finding a fulfilling job
helping to care for and support others then it may be the career
for you.
Am I the right person for social
care?
You may have been out of work for some time, looking for a career
change or have previous experience of caring responsibilities
at home. We'll give you the skills and confidence to get into
social care.
What's involved?
Not everyone is able to spend a lot of time and money preparing to
work in social care - so we run short programmes throughout the
year.
Courses are full or part-time and are completed in 4 to 5 weeks.
They're delivered through presentations, group work, e-learning,
workshops, DVDs and individual work. This ensures a mix of
subjects and learning styles are included each day.
Will I get a job
afterwards?
Employers from the voluntary and private sector have helped to
develop the training programme. Many of the employers also offer a
guaranteed interview to students completing the course, with help
to support the period of transition into employment.
Since we started, 250 students have completed training and most
have moved into jobs in the sector or further study.
